Dementia Wellbeing Service supports Age UK Bristol’s dementia advice project

Age UKBristol Mental Health's (BMH) Dementia Wellbeing Service (DWS) is set to support Age UK Bristol's popular dementia advice project. DWS will part-fund the initiative for two years, starting from this April.

Age UK's specialist dementia advice project offers home visits to older people in the local area who are affected by dementia, providing them with assistance and advice about benefits, power of attorney, social care and a wide range of associated issues. The service works with the individual and their loved ones to ensure that they are aware of their rights and can exercise them effectively.

The dementia advice project launched in 2013 and has been in high demand since.

"…In the current difficult funding environment for charities such as Age UK Bristol, we are very glad that DWS have committed to supporting this project for the next two years as this will enable us to continue with this vital work," says Ben Sansum, Information and Advice Manager, Age UK Bristol.

More information about the service can be found at the Age UK Bristol website or by calling the organisation's Adviceline on 0117 922 5353. The line is open 10am-1pm, Monday Thursday and an answerphone is available outside of these times.
