BMH plans further Conversation Cafes

Espresso cupBristol Mental Health has released further dates for its popular Conversation Cafes. The cafes have been developed as a space for service users to socialise with one another in a relaxed, friendly environment.

One attendee shared their positive experience of the cafes on Changes' website. They said: "Firstly, you could join in with a conversation without ever feeling you were pushing in on a 'private' chat.

"Secondly, if you wanted to sit quietly and not say anything for a while, you weren't made to feel awkward or left out."

Further Conversation Cafes will be held at Dom's Café, 23-25 St Augustine's Parade, Bristol, BS1 4UL on the following dates:

2pm-3.30pm, Friday 7 April
2pm-3.30pm, Friday 5 May
2pm-3.30pm, Friday 2 June

The idea for the cafes was developed by Bev Woolmer, Service User Involvement Co-Ordinator at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, alongside Lynne Newbury, Strategic Lead for Service Users and Carers, Bristol Mental Health, in response to service user feedback.
