Event takes the ‘Blue’ out of Blue Monday

The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Jeff LovellBlue Monday is claimed by some to be the most depressing day of the year but this year a bit of sunshine was brought to the day with an event at The Galleries shopping centre in Bristol.

Over 40 organisations, including Bristol Mental Health, set up stalls at the Blue Monday Fair on Monday 16 January. Shoppers flocked to the event to seek free, expert advice on a range of topics, including mental health, employment and finance.

There were also massages, competitions and live music on offer to banish the Blue Monday blues. The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Jeff Lovell (right) found time to visit the event, too.

Fran Bainbridge, Fundraising and Communications Officer at Talking Money, which was involved in the organisation of the event, says: "I think the day was really successful because there was an open and inviting atmosphere and people felt safe to talk about their problems."
