CASS workshop highlights link between young people and mental health stigma

CASS 250 px 275 border logoThe Community Access Support Service (CASS) was pleased to host volunteers and community youth workers at a Challenging Mental Health Stigma workshop this month.

The workshop, designed to focus specifically on young people and mental health stigma, involved discussions, presentations and activities. Peer pressure, lack of understanding from friends and family and social media use were among the discussion topics and attendees were encouraged to share their own experiences of working with young people.

"We really enjoyed the workshop and think it went well," says Anna Balcerek, Networker for CASS. "We all understand the importance of young people's mental health and it was heartening to see so many people wanting to find out more about stigma."

The workshop formed part of Bristol's Freedom of Mind Festival; a series of workshops, events and activities focused on young people's mental health.
