Faces of BMH: Arun Thottiyil Srambikkal

Job title: Recovery Navigator, Assessment and Recovery Service

1) What does your job involve?
I work as a Recovery Navigator in BMH's Assessment and Recovery Team. My job involves supporting people's recovery. I deliver person-centred care and signpost people to BMH services and wider services to meet their needs.

2) What do you enjoy best about your role?
I enjoy giving direct support to service users in a way that really makes a difference in their lives. I believe the contribution I make has a positive influence on service users' mental health. I enjoy the challenge, the responsibility and the person-centred approach we take.

3) Describe how you're feeling today in three words.
Grateful, motivated and great.

4) What do you do to keep mentally healthy?
I eat healthily, engage in physical activities, travel to new places and make sure I maintain relationships with my family and friends.

5) What do you like best about Bristol?
The diversity of the people who live here. I also enjoy the city's liveliness.

6) What would you recommend that people try in the city?
A Banksy graffiti tour, the nightlife round the harbour and the cafes and restaurants the city has to offer (there are plenty to choose from!). Cheltenham Road's flour & ash has nice pizza, Tinto Lounge on Gloucester Road has good coffee and cake and La Campagnuola on Zetland Road is a Sicilian restaurant that's worth dining at.
